Hickory Rock Calendar

Which Liturgical Season is it?

Picture
Lent is a 40-day season leading up to Easter. It mirrors the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness and has long been a time for prayer, reflection, repentance, and sometimes fasting.

Some people give something up during Lent. Others take on a new practice—like daily prayer, generosity, or intentional acts of kindness. The goal isn’t self-improvement or religious performance. The goal is to make space. Space to examine our hearts. Space to let go of what harms us. Space to return to what truly gives life.

Lent is an honest season. It acknowledges struggle and weakness—but it moves us toward hope. It prepares us not just to celebrate Easter, but to experience resurrection more deeply.

Current sermon Series

Lent is a season of returning — returning to God, and returning to who we were created to be.

This Lent, we’ll walk through the Gospel of Luke and look closely at Jesus, the one who shows us what it truly means to be human.

Along the way, we’ll name the ways our lives are shaped and misshaped, and we’ll listen for Christ’s invitation to repentance, healing, and new life.

Join us in February as we learn, together, how to be human again.

Join us Wednesdays, 6:30–7:30 PM, for Midweek Check-Ins—a space for honest sharing, reflection, and prayer. We’ll begin on Ash Wednesday (February 18) and meet each following Wednesday through Lent. This is not a Bible study, but a space to practice the wisdom, confession, and openness the Bible calls us to live into together.
